Dubai

Wow what a nice place!!

At first Dubai was scary. The airport was so busy we went and got money straight away so we could buy a drink and tip our driver. The currency is Dirham. The airport transfer dropped us off at the Pearl residence hotel at 7:30am just in time for a buffet bfast. We got a free room upgrade from Deluxe to Superior. We had bfast and organised the rest of our day with hotel staff. We caught a taxi off the street to Ski Dubai, we played in the snow caves and posed with ice sculptures. Dave rode the ice slide on his bum and we both tried out the donut slide.

That night we had organised a sundowner safari. We got picked up by a 4WD with a few other people and headed out of the city to join 40 other 4Wd's for some awesomely scary dune driving. We went side ways and all sorts over blind sand dunes. It was the best. We all got car sick hahaha. We saw a camel farm, beautiful desert sunset, and baby goats. We arrived at the 'camp' by 6, chose a table and went on a camel ride. The seats were cushions and we sat cross legged on the ground. We got photo's taken and had the best traditional buffet imaginable. Belly dancer entertained us and the other 150 people during dinner and we finished the night with 2 more camel rides and headed back to the hotel via a different route (one that was not soo bumpy). The sundowner safari is a must do for anybody visiting Dubai!!
